ACA 15th National Congress
From June 11–14, 2026, the 15th Congress of the Armenian Cardiologists Association was held at the Marriott Armenia Hotel, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Armenian Cardiologists Association.
Approximately 400 specialists attended the congress, including renowned cardiologists from Europe and the Russian Federation. The honorary guests of the congress included Professors Alec Vahanian (France), Bernard Iung (France), Patrick Nataf (France), Robert Gil (Poland), Head of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) EuroAsia Task Force, and Avedis Matikian (France).
A particular honor was the participation and welcoming addresses of Professor Cecilia Linde (Sweden), President of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) for 2026–2028, and Professor Filippo Crea (Italy), President-Elect for 2028–2030. They also delivered scientific presentations during the congress.
At the official opening ceremony, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, addressed the participants and the Association with welcoming remarks. She highlighted the achievements made in recent years in the management and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, which have contributed to reducing mortality and increasing life expectancy in the Republic of Armenia. According to the Minister, Armenian cardiologists hold a worthy place within the European cardiology community, and continued development in line with modern requirements is essential. The participants were also welcomed by Professor Armen Muradyan, Rector of Yerevan State Medical University, who emphasized the importance of continuous education, particularly in the field of cardiology, which is evolving rapidly.
During the opening ceremony, a film dedicated to the history and achievements of the Armenian Cardiologists Association was presented. Subsequently, the President, Hamlet Hayrapetyan, awarded the Association’s Gold Medal to world-renowned Professors Alec Vahanian (France) and Bagrat Alekyan (Russian Federation) in recognition of their outstanding services to cardiology and their significant contributions to the development of cardiology in Armenia. The awards ceremony was preceded by the screening of video tributes dedicated to the distinguished professors. Professors Alec Vahanian and Bagrat Alekyan delivered acceptance speeches and scientific lectures. Certificates of appreciation from the Association were also awarded to approximately fifteen Armenian cardiologists.
According to participants, the congress was conducted at a high scientific and organizational level. Two young cardiologists were awarded travel grants.
The congress also elected a new Board of the Association.
