Armenian Cardiologists Association at ESC Congress 2025 – EuroAsian Task Force Forum

At the ESC Congress 2025 in Madrid, a joint EuroAsian Task Forum was held with the presence
of the ESC President-elect, Prof. Cecilia Marianne Linde, bringing together leading cardiology
experts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kirgizstan and
Georgia. The central theme of the forum was:
“The access to PCI, ICD implantation, and atrial fibrillation ablation in the Euro-Asia region:
how far we are.
ESC EuroAsia Task Force chair Prof. Robert Gil established this task force to evaluate regional
progress and challenges in providing modern cardiovascular interventions.
The Armenian Cardiologists Association was proud to contribute to this critical discussion with
the presentation: “Percutaneous treatment for acute and chronic coronary syndromes:
presentation of the situation in the EuroAsia region.”
The participation was led by the president of the ACA, Prof. Hamlet G. Hayrapetyan, and Dr.
Marine Sargsyan delivered the presentation. In her talk, Dr. Sargsyan presented detailed
analyses of PCI and CABG statistics across the EuroAsia region, comparing them with data from
the European Union. This comparative approach highlighted key differences in procedural
volumes and access to revascularization strategies, providing a clearer understanding of where
the EuroAsian region stands in relation to European benchmarks.
The discussion underscored both significant progress achieved in some countries and the
challenges that remain in ensuring equal access to advanced cardiovascular interventions.
Among the issues raised were differences in infrastructure, availability of modern
interventional technologies, and the need for continuous training and education of
cardiologists to meet international standards.
For Armenia, this was an opportunity not only to present the national and regional situation but
also to actively engage in shaping the future direction of collaborative efforts across the
EuroAsian countries. By bringing data-driven insights to the table, the Armenian Cardiologists
Association reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality and accessibility of
cardiovascular care for patients in our country and beyond.
This forum served as an important platform for knowledge exchange, providing opportunities
to learn from regional experiences, identify shared priorities, and strengthen cooperation
between EuroAsian nations. Ultimately, such initiatives contribute to advancing patient
outcomes and ensuring that modern cardiovascular treatments, such as PCI, CABG, ICD
implantation, and atrial fibrillation ablation, become more widely available across the region.
