Hamayak Sisakian is a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Cardiology and Head of General and Invasive Cardiology Clinic at University Hospital 1, Director of University Ultrasound Training Center at Yerevan State Medical University. He passed his undergraduate medical education and postgraduate residency at Yerevan State Medical University, Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He received his doctoral research degree in Moscow Medical Sechenov Academy.
His teaching activities are related to the undergraduate and postgraduate education in cardiology, continuing medical education in cardiology and echocardiography. His main research activities were related to the study of remodeling in dilated cardiomyopathy, treatment of chronic heart failure, prognostic markers in acute myocardial infarction.
He is currently involved is study of several new prognostic factors after acute myocardial infarction and in chronic heart failure. His clinical activities include management of acute and chronic cardiovascular patients, noninvasive cardiovascular diagnostics. He is the first, who invented cardiac MRI in clinical practice in Armenia. Professor Sisakian has been involved as Principal Investigator and/or National Coordinator in several randomized controlled trials . Professor Sisakian was President of Armenian Cardiologist’s Association from 2019 to 2021.
